What A Shame Though...
by: Herman

What a shame though that it has taken centuries for adult athletes to take full advantage of a therapy Galen was giving to gladiators in Rome.
And to give a complete unblinkered view of the road that has to be travelled by us; here in Australia a team of 250-300 junior athletes are about to embark on an international meet and have one physiotherapist for them all, no sports therapist on the team, no one to offer massages on the team...
With this all in mind shouldn't it be a duty of us sports therapists and anyone who practices sports massage to make our services both accesable and more importantly affordable to those under 18. In doing this, we are not only helping to prevent injuries but are also setting a standard of care the young client is more inclined to follow as they grow older.
I myself charge $1 a minute for my services but for under 18 I charge a flat fee of $25 whether for 30 minutes or an hour or longer....$25 a treatment. Competition has nothing to do with my pricing; caring for our future sports people does.
