Overweight Clients And Seated Massage

Many overweight clients will have no trouble getting on your massage chair.

You will not have problems with the majority of clients who are moderately over their ideal body weight.

However, some clients will be too big for the massage chair to safely hold them or they will not feel comfortable trying to get on the massage chair. Don't worry--just try your best to improvise. Always try to be near some sturdy chairs in a mall, airport, or office building.

If you know that you will not be somewhere with sturdy chairs, you can bring a sturdy folding chair with you to sit on in between clients. You will need a good chair if you will be at an all-day sporting event or a health fair.

Never make the large client feel like you are going out of your way and that it is an inconvenience. You are there to make the client feel better, not to embarrass him/her.

Do not say anything to the client about dieting or eating habits. Chances are, that client gets nagged enough by family, friends, and co-workers. Just be supportive and give the very best seated massage you are capable of giving.

Always respect each client and try to be prepared for a variety of situations. You will learn more as you gain more experience in seated massage.
