Mississippi Massage Therapy
Effective July 1, 2008, Mississippi massage therapy students have to complete 700 school hours. They must also pass the National Certification Exam for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork (NCETMB) in order to receive a massage therapy license in Mississippi.
When they are first licensed in the state, massage therapists are known as registered massage therapists for at least the first year of practice. After obtaining additional massage therapy education, they will be known as licensed massage therapists.
In order to renew your license, you only need to take 12 CEU hours per year or 24 CEU hours once every two years.
Online classes to renew your massage therapy license in Mississippi are allowed, but only three hours per calendar year or 6 hours every two years. That is great for busy massage therapists who don't have to go out and schedule classes and hope they do not get cancelled. The CEU classes can be taken in the privacy of the massage therapist's home at his/her convenience.
The address for the State Department of Massage Therapy is:
Mississippi State Board of Massage Therapy
PO Box 12489
Jackson, MS 39236-2489
