When you make massage therapy home visits, also known as outcalls, your primary source of income in massage therapy, you will be traveling to a lot of people's homes.

With the rising cost of gasoline, it is beneficial for you to try to schedule two or more people in the same house or at least the same neighborhood for massage.

If you overdeliver on service to your client, he or she will spread the word about you to friends and family, not to mention the neighbors who will undoubtedly watch you unload your equipment and wonder why you are there.

By the same token, if you underdeliver on service to your client, he or she will tell even more people about it. We tend to tell others more about the bad things that happen to us, than the good things. It is just human nature.

You will need to charge $10 to $20 more for home visits to cover gas costs and your commute time. You may want to offer a discount to the second (or more) clients in the same home who receive massage. The clients will appreciate it and will tell others which can bring in more business for you.

Massage outcalls are a great convenience to your client. I was recently googling San Antonio massage therapists to check out office versus outcall pricing. To my surprise, some of the therapists who do a lot of business, charge double for the outcall! Wow! I had no idea clients would pay that much. I am really undercharging my clients.

The lesson learned? Check on your competitors. Do not undervalue your services. Don't be afraid to charge what you are worth.
