Massage Therapy And Anxiety

Massage therapy and anxiety can go hand in hand. Those who suffer from anxiety and even depression can be greatly helped by massage.

Anxiety is a sense or worry or uneasiness about what might happen in the present and in the future. We all worry and fret about some things, but feeling this way every moment of every day is not how most of us live.

Depression is basically a state of mind where your emotions go from sadness to despair to hopelessness.

We all experience bouts of depression from time to time. You don't want to eat or do any of the normal activities that you usually enjoy. Something is wrong and out of balance. Maybe you lost your job. Maybe you have chronic pain, day in, day out with no relief.

Or maybe you finally realized that the one who you thought was the love of your life just used you and then dumped you before you knew what hit you.

You are sad, grief-stricken. The emotional pain is almost too much to bear. You have overwhelming feelings of despair and everything seems hopeless.

But then, slowly, you begin to bounce back. Most of us do. Some have a serious version of this condition and cannot bounce back without help. They may need to see a physician for direction. They may need medication and/or counseling.

Or you begin to trust in others and in God and the anxiety subsides.

The good news is that these conditions can be decreased by massage therapy. It increases the body's levels of dopamine and seratonin which naturally decrease depression and anxiety.

Massage therapy increases circulation. This, in turn, helps medications to be absorbed. It also relaxes the client and helps to take away emotional stress.
