Massage Therapy Accessories

Massage therapy accessories are useful for the beginning massage therapist. Many are necessities. These can include sheets, pillowcases, towels, and face cradle covers. Face cradle covers for the massage chair can be a Bounty paper towel, split in half up the middle almost to the top if you want to save money.

Sanitary wipes designed for medical use are convenient for cleaning massage chairs between clients. They can be purchased at medical supply companies or online from massage therapy accessories companies. Do not buy the kind sold at Wal-Mart as they will not kill enough germs. You need good quality commercial medical wipes. Alcohol-based hand sanitizer is another necessity for chair massage as sinks are not nearby in an office or at a convention, yet hands must be cleaned in between clients to avoid the spread of germs.

You should not be without a CD player and calming music CD's. These are especially useful for table massage but can be used with chair massage as well.

Consider aromatherapy candles. They can be purchased at any candle store. I have found some at Bath and Bodyworks, Wal-Mart, and Dollar Tree as well.

If your practice is an outcall practice, you will need a dependable vehicle large enough to carry your massage table and/or chair. An SUV is just right, but with gas prices around $4 a gallon now, you may want to consider a smaller vehicle.

Hand-held tools to help with trigger point therapy can save your thumbs. Massage cream or oil is a necessity for table massage. You may want to purchase a holster to hold the massage cream while you are performing a massage.

An ice pack and a hot water bottle are also good investments. While giving massage, both heat and ice can be used in massage, especially in table massage.

A good office phone with an answering machine and/or a cell phone are necessary massage therapy accessories when building your massage practice. You will not always be available to answer the phone when new clients call.

Make sure these phones are for business only. List the phone numbers on your massage therapy business cards. Cards can be obtained at a local print shop or on one of the many hundreds of online printers available.
