Massage Program Therapy

Massage program therapy is bodywork performed by students of a school.

This can be bodywork performed by student interns on other students and on clients, first-time or returning.

Schools publicize that the general public can call for an appointment for a full-body relaxation session. The cost is minimal, sometimes as low as $20 for a 45 minute block of time.

Clients who live near the school know that these students are almost finished with school so they have had a lot of practice and can give great massages.

Some are regular clients with new therapists every few weeks as classes graduate and new students begin the internship program.

These clients get the benefit of work from many types of therapists--some are naturally more aggressive on the muscles while others have a softer touch. There is also the benefit of having the latest techniques used on you.

If the student runs into a problem, there are instructors who can come in and assist on a problem area of the body and their touch is usually fabulous since they have been practicing this art for a long time.

This is definitely the way to go for clients who love getting good bodywork but don't have a big budget for this.

Massage schools usually limits the number of times an intern can work on the same client during the internship. At my school, the number was three. But there were so many clients calling for appointments and walking in that we were almost always swamped with potential clients.
