Have A Massage Party
"What a great party idea! Massages for my girlfriends! They'll love it."
A massage party is a fun and trendy way to introduce massage therapy to new clients. Have one for your friends or co-workers and give the massages yourself so they can see what they are missing.
Or get a friend who loves your massages to host one at her house and you can pick up some new clients. Just make sure you bring plenty of business cards. A client can also book a massage party and invite you to do the massages or to be part of a team of massage therapists, depending on the party size and type. These can be just massage for a few girlfriends at someone's house or massage can be just a small part of a huge blowout. They can have soft music and aromatic candles burning or a live band playing loud rock music with plenty of food. Teens, young moms, senior citizens, and career women all have massage parties.
Massage Party
Have you been to a massage party as an invited guest or as a massage therapist? Tell us about it. What services were offered? What were the fees?
Teenagers love the fun and glam of the spa coming to them.
Chair massage at a
bridal shower or a bachelorette party is a wonderful surprise for the bride-to-be.
She can be pampered in the privacy of her own home with some friends and relatives. Young mothers have a difficult time getting out of the house. They want to relax and have fun with their girlfriends, like they did before the baby came along. If they have more than one to care for, they are especially stressed and would appreciate a girl's night with some close friends, having massages and facials and lots of gossip. Career women also love getting together for massages and a
skincare,
makeup, or jewelry presentation with plenty of time for catching up with friends and lots of good food.
There are many more types of massage parties. Maybe a few of these ideas will give you ideas for one yourself.
Get New Clients
A chair massage business can involve having chair massage parties that are fun for clients. They are a great way for massage therapists to get new clients.
I have been a guest at several and I have been the therapist at some. Each party has a different mood, depending on what the clients want.
For instance, Donna hosted one for a few of her friends where I was the massage therapist. Donna and her guests started by giving each other facials while I gave massages to the guests in a corner. After the massages were through, about two and a half hours later, I packed up and left and they were going into makeup and hairstyles.
Another chair massage party that I worked was a pajama party for ladies in their twenties and thirties. Yes, a slumber party and they were really having fun. I worked on the shoulders, neck, back, and feet while they ate and watched movies.
The possibilities for incorporating massage into any event are endless as feeling great will work with almost any theme. They will help to grow your chair massage business by giving the client new ways to hold gatherings for friends.
Everyone likes their party to be trendy. The host can choose to pay for the therapist or can explain to the guests that if they would like the services of the therapist, they will need to pay for it. It just depends on the type of event you are having.
A massage party is a great way for a new massage therapist to gain clients. It is best to invite as many people as possible with the understanding that as many as one to two-thirds of those you invite will not show up. After I got my therapy license, I decided to kick off my practice by inviting friends and relatives to my house for snacks and complimentary chair massages. I invited everyone I could think of and had my three kids do the same. To my shock, more than two-thirds of the invited guests showed up! I had my massage chair set up on the deck in the backyard. My kids helped out with greeting and serving food and drinks while I gave massage after massage. The party was a success and I managed to pick up some regular clients and a few semi-regular clients who call when they are hurting. That massage party worked so well that I decided a few months later to ask a friend to host one at her home where I would give free chair massages to pick up more clients. So she invited her friends, neighbors, and co-workers. The weather was cooler by then so we had everything indoors. Guests mingled and some watched a movie while I gave massages. I ended up booking some new clients for table massage and picked up 3 more regular clients.
Young Mother's Massage Party
A young moms massage party is a great way for mothers of small children to take some time out from the demands of the home. They really need a break, especially when there is a new baby in the house.
Kelly and Robin decided to have a relaxing, pampering party for themselves and a few friends. They were feeling burned out from taking care of their homes and little ones. Adult contact for them was at a minimum.
Kelly and Robin invited four other new mothers and everyone got their husbands to watch the babies on a Saturday afternoon. Each lady brought food and shared the latest stories about their families and friends.
I gave chair massages out on the deck. The ladies truly appreciated them since there was really no time for pampering in their daily routines. Their backs and shoulders were overworked carrying babies around all of the time. Someone else was at the party giving manicures. Each mom paid for their own massage and manicure.
The ladies decided to get together once a month for a moms massage party. The next month, I was invited back to help with pampering. This time the ladies got chair and foot massages and pedicures.
This was a great way for them to bond with a support group and get a break from from the kids and the housework for a short time.
Career Women Can Have A Massage Party
Consider throwing a career woman massage party. It can be calm and relaxing or noisy and highly energetic. I will share a party that I recently worked to give you an idea of how massage can be incorporated into any party.
Jane is an elementary school teacher in her early fifties who enjoys getting together with her co-workers for fun and games at her house. She recently booked me to perform chair massages at an afternoon get-together. The guests were divided into two teams and they played a popular game. Each guest got a turn to have a facial and a massage.
Jane also had a makeup consultant come in. I was set up in one corner of the den and the makeup consultant was in another. She gave facials all afternoon and I gave chair massages. No soft music was playing at this party--just lots of shouting and excited squeals and clapping!
The guests enjoyed the treatments but were very eager to get back to the competition and laughter in the middle of the room. The teachers had a blast.
Now here is an example of a relaxing career woman massage party. Carla, also a teacher, (What can I say? Almost all of my friends are teachers.) thinks dealing with kids all day long is hectic and she wanted to have an evening where she and her girlfriends could just relax and be pampered. So she booked me for chair and foot massages.
Candles burned and soft music played in the background as the teachers talked and caught up on the latest gossip while I performed the chair massages. Then everyone soaked their feet in small blow-up tubs of skin softener with marbles in the bottom to massage their feet while they soaked. Then I gave foot massages to each teacher while they soaked.
Two completely different ways to incorporate massage into a get-together and there are so many more ways to do it.
