Hi Karen. Thank you for your comments on massage therapy outcalls. This is a great way to start a massage therapy practice. This is what I do instead of paying rent. Now with gas going up and up it can start to feel like you are paying rent but you do what you have to and charging an extra $10 or $20 outcall charge is a good idea.
People will pay for convenience. That amazes me. I always look for the cheapest price, the best deal but I have friends who want convenience and the very best. They won't shop at Wal-Mart but will buy the same item for 20 or 30% more at another store and feel they got a good deal because they did not have to shop in a crowded store or stand in a long line like at Wal-Mart.
Me, I would rather stand in a long line and save 30% but there are people who have too much money and love to feel like they can afford things and spend too much.
Anyway, I like your idea of opening an office once you have too many clients to count and to maybe do so with a partner. That is smart thinking. Just make sure the partner is responsible and before you start, get everything in writing. Make it a legal contract that specifies who pays how much of each thing-rent, utilities, supplies, advertising, etc.
Sometimes it is good to go 50-50 on everything and split the profits evenly as well. Just because you are friends (if you go into business with a friend) does not mean that you don't need it in writing. Get it in writing. Nice and legal. Always!
