Americans seem to be totally stressed out. Here are some tips to get rid of stress in your life.
First of all, learn to say, "No!" This is such a small word, yet we find it so hard to say. People love to ask you to help with a project at church, school, work, or a club. If it does not interest you or you are not passionate about it, say "No!"
If you do not have the time or if you already have plans for that day, it is your right and privilege to decline. Believe me, learning to say "No!" will clear some major stress from your life.
Next, it is good that you are a caring, friendly person, but get rid of the people who emotionally drain you on a regular basis. They are emotional "blood suckers," who zap the energy and strength from you so that you have nothing left to give.
Get rid of them and eliminate stress. I know it sounds cruel, but sometimes you have to do what is right for you and your family. Be kind but let them know you are busy with other plans. Don't let them reschedule. You don't need to be mean, but if they are constantly draining you, think of yourself and the needs of your family. They must come before the needs of the emotional vampire.
Delegating responsibility is another great way to clear your life of stress. You can't do it all. Let your spouse and kids help with housework, laundry, or dinner. Let co-workers help out with special work projects. Let others help you with church projects. The world will keep on turning if you are not micro-managing every detail of everything going on in your world.
Learn to accept that not everything has to be perfect. Accepting some things as less than perfect will help you get rid of stress in your life.
If you live in the city, consider moving to the country or to a calmer suburb where everything is not so hectic--not so much traffic and noise. You can relax better in a more quiet setting.
Stop charging on your credit cards. Pay your credit card debt off. Being out of debt can get rid of stress.
If you are always running late and it causes you a lot of stress, get up earlier. Get ready a little earlier. Leave earlier so you will get to your destination on time or even early. Early is good. Early means you de-stress by not worrying about being late.
Don't hold grudges. Grudges mean stress. Life is too short to hold grudges against people. It takes too much energy to remember to be angry and upset with people. Just let it go. Forgive. Get rid of grudges and get rid of stress.
