Cold Stone Massage

Cold stone massage is great for use in facial treatments after hot stones have been used.

Marble is the preferred rock for this type of facial therapy.

The chilled marble tightens the skin and seals facial pores. Chilled marble also tones the muscles of the face.

Marble is chilled down to 32 degrees Fahrenheit by placing the stones in a freezer for about 15 to 20 minutes. They are placed on the clients face and then are moved to other spots on the face after a few minutes.

Some clients cannot take the extreme temperatures on their skin. If it proves too much for the client, a small, thin cloth can be placed on the portions of the face and the marble can be placed on the cloth. This should help to make the icy stone massage more tolerable.

Clean the stones in a mixture of rubbing alcohol, witch hazel, and water that have been mixed together in a spray bottle. Wipe dry before freezing.

This icy rock treatment to the face is the perfect complement for a stress-reducing, relaxing hot stone massage.

Chilled stones to the face are also great after a chair massage in the summer heat.
