Business Plan For Massage Therapy

A business plan for massage therapy is something that students should have before they leave massage school. It should include a mission statement and a vision statement.

Your mission statement is your statement of purpose. It should be short and to the point, much like your vision statement. Your statement expresses why your business exists and how it can benefit other people. That's right! Don't go into massage therapy because you think the money will be good. It normally is not that great. Yes, you can make $60 an hour, but you cannot give massage for eight to ten hours a day. Three or four a day is more than enough. Your body cannot put up with the stress of that much work in so few hours.

The emphasis is on helping others and not on your bank account. Do the right thing and the money will follow.

Treat your clients right in every way and your clients will take care of you. My massage instructor used to say that all the time in class. He gets generous tips and a lot of repeat business because he cares about his clients.

Don't get me wrong. Your mission should not conflict with your needs as a business owner so you will be making a living once you secure enough clients. Just don't focus on making a profit, instead of on the people who need your help.

As a massage therapist, you are a helper, a healer, and your focus should be on how you can give help and hope to your clients. Enjoy serving and taking care of your clients and your clients will take care of you.

For instance, you could say your mission is

"To provide professional, top-quality table and chair massages to relieve pain and to promote relaxation to others to help make their lives better."

Without a business plan for massage therapy, practitioners will not get far. Write yours today.
