Body Polish

A body polish is a specialized part of massage therapy that can be even more messy than a salt glow.
This treatment leaves the skin feeling tingly and fresh when complete. Professional products made for this type of treatment can be bought commercially and are not as gritty or abrasive as salt or granulated sugar.

This is a very messy treatment, but well worth it for the client who will have soft smooth skin when you are finished!

When performing this skin treatment on a client, cover everything with a sheet or towels. Another word of caution, do not perform this treatment on open cuts or on freshly shaved skin as it will sting.

Using 1 tablespoon of the product at a time, apply the dampened product (according to manufacturer's directions) to the client's body. Use a brisk up and down motion. Rinse in a pail or small plastic tub of water and towel dry. This can be done in a chair for hands and feet or on a massage table if a full treatment is needed.

Remember to perform the treatment on one area at a time and then rinse and dry with a soft, thick towel for minimal mess. Be sure to rinse well so the client's skin does not feel gritty.

The client's skin will feel fresh and new, which in turn makes for a more confident and positive attitude for the smoothed client.

If you would like to practice on yourself prior to smoothing a client's skin, you can use granulated sugar or table salt. Get in your bathtub to avoid a lot of cleanup. Lightly moisten the sugar or salt and rub it on your arms and legs, then shower it off. You can also practice wiping it off with warm, dampened washcloths, similar to those you will use on your clients.
