Arizona Massage Therapy

Arizona Massage Therapy requirements can be read on the Arizona Department of Health website. Their website is www.massageboard.az.gov . Here is a link to their website.

500 hours of massage therapy instruction at an accredited school are required to get a massage therapy license in the state of Arizona.

A therapist in this state is also required to be nationally certified by the NCETMB prior to obtaining a license in Arizona. This means the massage therapist candidate must take and pass the national massage therapy test in order to get a state license in Arizona.

Contact information for NCETMB is:

National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage & Bodywork

8201 Greensboro Drive, Suite 300

McLean, VA 22102

Phone numbers for the NCETMB are toll free (800) 296-0664 or long distance (703) 610-9015.

The NCETMB website is NCBTMB.com.

You can contact the Alabama State Board by writing them at:

Arizona Board of Massage Therapy

1400 West Washington, #230

Phoenix, AZ 85007

or by calling them at:

Phone: 602-542-8604

You can fax them at:

Fax: 602-542-3093

The e-mail address is info@massageboard.state.az.us

Once a therapist has taken and passed the national certification test, he/she must take proof of national certification and massage school transcript to to the board, provided he/she is at least 18 years old and has a high school diploma or high school equivalency certificate.

Once a massage therapist has successfully obtained his/her license in Arizona, he/she must take 25 hours of continuing education classes every two years in order to renew the state license.

After going through all of this to get a license, be very careful to take the required CEU classes on time so that your license does not expire! If it does, you get to start testing all over again.
